Is Miniature Dog Breeds The Best Dog For You? – They are Joy in a Tea Cup

Miniature dog breeds are the perfect dog breeds in small apartments. They are usually very attractive, but tend to be snappy and prefer to be lap dogs.

Miniature dog breeds may seem easier to look after, as they eat less and need less exercise. However, they are more delicate, and get dehydrated more easily. Vets usually have a problem treating them, as they do not have surplus weight to lose, and every illness can be dangerous. Many of them are low on energy indoors, though there are a few high spirited ones too. Many are fragile with delicate bones, so may not be suitable in a house with small children who may inadvertently injure them.

Miniature dog breeds include dogs that are also known as toy dogs or lapdogs. They are well suited for the disabled and elderly. They may seem like an accessory, the way they are either on their owners’ laps or in their arms. Their owners treat them like that too, or more like toys. Miniature dog breeds are the ones who are most often taken to spas and beauty salons for dogs. Their accessories such as collars and leashes are often bejeweled designer goods, and it is not unusual to see the long haired varieties with their heads full of clips.

Miniature Dog Breeds that People Love

The various miniature dog breeds that make popular house pets include some whose names are miniatures. They are the Miniature Pinscher or Minpin, Miniature Bull Terrier, Miniature Dachshund and Miniature Schnauzer. The Minpin is not related to the Doberman Pinscher, but many miniatures are a result of inbreeding and cross breeding. Schnauzers, Terriers, and Dachshunds are seen in larger varieties too. These are all high energy dogs who are constantly yapping around strangers. Hair shedding is not a problem with these four.

Other miniature dog breeds that are very popular with ladies are the Pomeranian, Shih Tzu, Chihuahua and the Pekingese. They are long haired, and need constant grooming, and enjoy it too. There are short haired varieties of Chihuahua as well. These varieties are rather self sufficient animals, and though the Pomeranian is very energetic, the others are not. Some miniature dog breeds like the Yorkshire Terrier, Chihuahua, Toy Poodle, Pomeranian, and Shih Tzu are exceptionally alert, and can be good watch dogs despite their small size. They get excited very easily when strangers are around, and bark continuously.

Is Mixed Dog Breeds The Perfect Choice For You?

Is Mixed Dog Breeds The Perfect Choice For You?

Mixed dog breeds are dogs that have more than one dog breed type in its ancestry. There are diverse behavioural trait requests by dog owners nowadays, which gives room for breeding dogs which have several dogs types in their genetic make-up, So you can find mixed dog breeds of diverse backgrounds. In this write-up we will be detailing the types of Mixed Dog Breeds which are commonly recognized.

Please note that The Mixed Breed Is Not AKC Material, that means to say mixed dog breeds do not have registration papers and are not eligible for them either.

Although some of these mixed dogs can look closely like a purebred dog but its mixed ancestry will prevent the dog from getting its registration papers. A mixed breed is not eligible to compete in the American Kennel Club competitions although it can compete in obedience competitions.  Just to make the difference clear, a crossbreed dog is a dog with full breed parents of different breeds.

Hard To Figure Out Breed Type

Mixed dog breeds are commonly known as Mutts.  If a dog has a mixed ancestry, it can be difficult to figure out what type of breeds that it represents.  Unless you know for sure because you know the dog’s parents, you may not ever know what breeds are in your dog’s family history.

Mixed dog breeds are not for people who want to know exactly what the dogs will look like as they mature and they are also not suitable for someone who wants their dog to perform certain tasks such as hunting and herding because it is unknown how much of the desired traits it will exhibit unlike the behavior expectations that can be had with a pure breed dog.  A mixed dog will have an even chance of displaying the traits, good and bad, of any of the breeds in its family history.

Mixed dogs are less expensive that purebred dogs.  Mixed dog breeds produce a very nice dog that will be just as fine and loyal of a companion as you could desire from any purebred dog.  You can train mixed dog breeds with as much success as you can have with purebred dogs.

Rescue A Dog

There are many mixed dog breeds in animal shelters so you will be able to rescue a dog from a shortened life and gain a wonderful canine companion for much less money than you would have spent on a purebred dog.  These rescued dogs seem to know when they have been saved and they are very grateful and loving pets.  Animal shelters are interested in getting the dogs a good home and will try to match the dog with a compatible owner.

A mixed breed dog is a fine dog for most homes and families.  Mixed dog breeds may also be hardier health wise and will not be as susceptible to the illnesses that can strike purebred dogs.  Your mixed breed dog can add joy and love to your life so do not overlook a dog’s value just because it is a mixed breed.

Know Your Dog Breeds Before Buying A Dog

Dog Breeds and Training blog

Many people love dogs and wish to have one. Children are the most persistent to have dogs and they pester their parents no end regarding the purchase or adoption of one. Before you even try to acquire a dog, it is better to read up on the care of a dog and what kind of dog suits you and your family’s lifestyle best.

Choosing Dog Breeds

There are over 150 dog breeds recognized by the American Kennel Society. These dog breeds comprise of working dogs, companion dogs, toys and more. All dog breeds have certain characteristics that are specific to their breed. Before you go out to get a dog you need to make a few decisions regarding what kind of dog you need, want and can have.

Factors that you have to consider are which dog breeds may be noisy, which are good companions and guard dog etc. The different kinds of dogs that make good companion include the toys (smaller dogs). Other dog breeds may belong to other categories but they also make great companion dogs. Actually, dogs are really great companions o matter what breed or category they belong to.

Some dog breeds are more territorial than other dogs while other dog breeds are friendlier. Some breeds even need firm masters who know how to control them and discipline them. Dogs are similar to children is the aspect that they know how to size up which people they can boss around and which they need to respect.

The more important factor in choosing dog breeds is their temperament and grooming. Temperament is the facet of a dog that makes them easy to discipline and if they are appropriate companions for children. Grooming is also a very important factor to keeping you dog healthy. Long haired dogs need more attention than shorthaired ones. There are even several dog breeds that have twisted or curled up hair. There are grooming techniques for these dogs and their coats need special attention.

Adopting or Buying

Several agencies lobby for dog adoption rather than buying a new puppy. They reason out that there are altogether to many dogs out in the streets looking for owners that puppy mills do not need to produce more. Some people buy cute puppies but only abandon them when they are older and no longer cute to have and take care of. Several dog breeds look adorable as puppies but not as much when they grow older.
